Troubleshooting Decision Tree
Use this quick flow when a print fails. Start with the visible symptom and work downward.
If the first layer won’t stick
- Clean plate with isopropyl alcohol
- Lower Z-offset slightly
- Increase bed temp by 5°C
- Slow first layer to 15–25 mm/s
- Add brim if needed
If you see stringing
- Lower nozzle temp 5°C
- Increase retraction slightly
- Improve travel moves/combing
- Dry filament
If layers look weak or split
- Raise nozzle temp modestly
- Reduce fan for high-temp materials
- Check flow/extrusion multiplier
- Verify filament is dry
If dimensions are off
- Calibrate e-steps/flow first
- Check belt tension and axis play
- Use compensation only after mechanics are stable
Rule for Faster Fixes
Change one variable, print a short test, log result, repeat. That single habit prevents endless trial-and-error.
